Brookhaven
Brookhaven is a city located in the northeastern area of Atlanta that was incorporated in 2012. It is home to Oglethorpe University and a Georgia State University satellite campus. The Weather Channel, owned by The Weather Company, is located here. There are several beautiful parks in the area, including the Ashford Forest Preserve and Murphey Candler Park, and Peachtree Creek Greenway. Phase one of the greenway opened in 2019 and once it’s complete, it will stretch 12 miles.
Historic Brookhaven
The area known as Historic Brookhaven expands between Brookhaven, Buckhead, and Sandy Springs. It has long been one of the Atlanta area’s wealthiest neighborhoods. The Capital City Country Club is the center of the thriving neighborhood and it’s surrounded by homes designed by many of Atlanta’s most famous architects.
Brookhaven Village
What has become the urban town center of Brookhaven is near the Brookhaven MARTA stop along Dresden Drive. It’s made up largely of mixed-used development and commercial businesses but bordered by neighborhoods with single-family homes with quick and easy access to everything Brookhaven Village has to offer.
Schools
Along with universities like the prestigious private Oglethorpe University, Brookhaven is home to several DeKalb County Schools including Montgomery Elementary which regularly performs well in CRCT testing. The Kitteridge Magnet School is also highly sought after due to its commitment to diversity and high achieving student body. There are also several private schools located in Brookhaven.
